Introduction
In our world today, there are predators lurking in plain sight – child sexual abuse, domestic violence, and human trafficking. Fortunately non-profit organizations dedicated to combating these atrocities exist, their essential purpose and impact undeniable. As a survivor of sexual abuse at the age of 12, I understand firsthand the feelings of vulnerability and isolation that victims face. Forty years ago, the support systems we have today were not available, leaving many survivors like me to suffer in silence. Thankfully, the organizations I have encountered and collaborated with now offer invaluable resources and programs for those affected by these unspeakable acts. Despite the remarkable work being done, there remains a critical gap in the support provided to survivors: access to timely and appropriate counseling.
As someone who lived with the pain for 30 years before seeking help, I know how crucial therapy can be in overcoming trauma and beginning the healing process. No one should be forced to wait for the opportunity to heal. Just as we would seek immediate medical care for a physical wound, the same urgency must be applied to addressing the psychological damage inflicted on survivors. For this reason, I am establishing the International Therapists Fund.
Together, we can help mend the emotional wounds and empower victims on their journey towards healing and reclaiming their lives. Our goal is to enable them to see a specialized therapeutic psychologist, which unfortunately is not covered by many insurances or, at best, limits the number of sessions. With your support, we can create a world where healing is not delayed, but instead, is a fundamental right for all.
Our Approach
At the International Therapist Fund, our approach is rooted in the belief that timely therapeutic intervention is a cornerstone of recovery. We collaborate with established non-profit organizations to channel funds directly into providing survivors of trauma with access to licensed therapists.
Our Vision
Our vision transcends the darkness of trauma, envisioning a world where survivors of child sexual abuse, domestic violence, and human trafficking find strength, support, and healing without delay. We strive to reshape the narrative, eradicating the silence that once shrouded victims.
